Kindergarten

Jonah just finished his first week of kindergarten.
I took these photos of of him on his first day of school.  He was pretty excited!

I love this kid to pieces.

Seriously.  I was never this cool, especially at age 5.  I think it must be the hair.

Jonah asked for a Mohawk haircut a few weeks ago and we had fun with it....for a good 10 days.  The forelock eventually became an annoyance---getting in his eyes---so we chopped it off.

After school, Jonah practices Jiu-jitsu three days a week.  It's been a fun place for him to connect with some of his long-time friends who go to different schools.  This picture was taken at their recent belt promotion.  I'm very proud of his dedication to this practice...it's also a ton of fun.

At his request, Jonah has begun taking violin lessons.  We were able to find him a decent used violin on Craigslist that is 1/4 size and so he has added that to his after school routine.

And, as if music lessons and martial arts weren't enough, on the final (available) post-kindergarten afternoon, were were invited to a playdate by one of Jonah's school mates, Charlie.  If you can't guess by Jonah's awesome outfit, it started out as a pool party.  Jonah is now obsessed with battery powered toy vehicles.

It was a big week.  And even our little maniac was worn out by the end.
We have shifted bedtime to 7pm.  It's starting to get darker early now, so that's helping.
And Jonah is waking up 11 hours later---ready for another adventure.

This weekend was the annual Gorge Kids Triathlon.  Jonah participated with over 150 other kids.
The little kids didn't really do the "swim" part.

Bike!

Run!
This event was a great way to introduce kids to sport without any real competitiveness and an emphasis on fun.  Jonah had a great time!
I hope you all had a good weekend too.
xoxo
