Wild Woman

I recently competed in the Wild Woman Marathon (relay) with some friends.  The 26.2 miles were split up into four sections of beautiful single track trail through the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.  This photo was taken afterwards and you can tell that we were delighted to have finished.
Later, we discovered that not only did we finish, but our team placed 14th among the 58 relay teams!
After a two year hiatus from running, it feels great to be getting back into it.
My favorite part of the day was seeing my two men there cheering me on....and ever since, Jonah continues to encourage me by singing out "Go Mommy Go!"

San Francisco, California

We arrived in San Francisco on my Birthday and met up with our good friends Mark and Tifani.
Our lodging was a fantastic condo in SoMa, which was loaned to the five of us for three nights.  It was not only in a fabulous location, but also had free parking, AND came childproofed, with toys and crib!
Happy Birthday to me!
(Thank you again Dan, Kristin, and Emma)

We had tickets to the sold out The Head and the Heart show at the Fillmore.  My cousin Kirsten happily volunteered to come watch Jonah for the evening so we could enjoy a dinner out and then the concert.
(Thank you Kirsten!)

Coincidentally, The Moondoggies (who we also like) were the opening band.

At the show with Tifani.  It was a memorable birthday!

We had excellent weather and enjoyed a waterfront walk the next day.  Tifani took this photo of me and Kirsten with the Bay Bridge in the background.
Back and the condo, the boys relaxed with their dogs.  And Jonah practiced making scary faces.

Mark and Tifani make everything fun.  No matter how old you are.

Jonah has two more favorite people now.

One of the things I love about city-life is the accessibility to outstanding food.  We splurged on a couple big meals out at Betelnut and 1300 on Fillmore.

Guess how happy I am?

Guess who wants to go sailing again?

I found a photo from 2004 of us at the top of Twin Peaks overlooking downtown.

I can't believe that it has been eight years since we sailed under the Golden Gate after a 7-day passage from Seattle.  That was just the beginning.....

One of Tifani's many talents is being a hair stylist and she worked a little magic on Jonah during our visit.  Here are a few photos from Jonah's first haircut!
She trimmed the back and sides so there would be less public confusion over whether those beautiful eyes belonged to a boy or girl.

Jonah was a well-mannered client.  I saved a few of his curled locks for the baby album.

All in all, we took about an inch and a half off.  I didn't want him to loose his wispy baby layers yet and Tifani did a great job of trimming just the right amount.

Here are some "after" photos with Tifani.

So long San Francisco.  Hopefully it is not another eight years before we are back to see you.
Thank you to Mark and Tifani for moving to a city we enjoy!  We had a great time visiting you; it was the prefect mix of fun outings and relaxing downtime.
