Charlie's Tomatoes

Our friend Charlie runs an organic farm just east of us.  He grows tomatoes and peppers commercially and has an unbelievable operation.
I find visits to his property inspiring.

This year, I picked about 75 pounds of gigantic, heirloom tomatoes that are super meaty--and are just as amazing sliced fresh as they are canned.

I set the boys up in front of the cherry tomatoes and they picked, and picked, and picked.

Look at those beautiful rows.

Ezra took the opportunity and lack of supervision to give himself a dust bath.

He had a fabulous time getting absolutely filthy.

Sweet tomato explosion captured!

The kids had baths immediately after getting home and then the canning production began.

Nanna came to help us.  It took us all day, but we got done!

Thank you for sharing your bounty with us Charlie!
We are so grateful to savor these tomatoes through the winter months.
