A Day for Fathers

It could not have been more perfectly timed that Jonah took his first steps today!!

Happy Father's Day indeed to my wonderful husband and "da-dee" to our sweet son.

We (Jonah and I) are so very fortunate to have such a generous man in our lives.  I am thankful that Jesse enjoys being a father so much---he's really a natural.  And, as you can see from the photos below, they enjoy their time together!

Happy Father's Day to both of our Dads too.....thanks for reminding us to enjoy this time together!

Peony Blooms

Our peonies typically bloom at the end of May, right after the lilacs.  This bouquet was cut for my sister so she could enjoy the cheerful flowers while we were away from home on a road trip.

The petals are so deliciously vibrant.  

A few plants came with the house, and a few are ones that I planted.  They are in a bed that gets more and more shade with each passing year.  This year each plant only had two or three blooms so I really need to get them to a happier place.  Perhaps this fall I will have a chance to relocate them all to an area with more sunlight.

West Fork, Hood River

A few weeks ago, my sister Stephanie and I took Jonah on a little hike.  We had originally intended to hike Lost Lake, but the road was still snow-covered when we got there, so we changed plans and settled for an easy out-and-back to Punchbowl Falls on the West Fork of the Hood River.

Jonah had fun exploring the textures of sand and river stones along the bank. 

Jonah enjoys sharing things now.  He has developed the most endearing tendency to hand me all the small things around the house that could pose a choking hazard.  It is super helpful.
