Road Trip

We have had the adventure itch for a while now, so earlier this year we decided to skeedattle from home and drive to the bay area to visit friends.  Planning a 2000 mile drive with an 11 month old baby is no small feat.  We didn't want to force Jonah to sit strapped into a car seat for days on end.  The resulting plan was a three week trip that enabled us to break the drive into little hops that would be more fun for all of us.  In order to ensure the short legs for the trip, we did complete one monster 12 hour drive through the night.  Yes, that's right....my dear husband drove from 7:30pm until 7:30am while Jonah slept like an angel.  We left home to the sun setting on Mt. Hood and woke up to the sunrise over Silicon Valley.  That turned out to be a brilliant plan (thank you for cooperating Jonah, and thank you for driving all night Jesse).  We had fully recovered in 24 hours and were able to soak in the first relaxing breaths of vacation on a sunny patio in Saratoga, California.
As always, my Aunt Susan and Uncle Paul graciously welcomed our family and we enjoyed two days of resting, visiting, and a hike up the hill to see the view from Montalvo.

While we typically don't have itineraries for our adventures, we did have one outlined for this particular trip.
Here is the final version of what we actually did.

May 29 - Depart
May 30 & 31 - Saratoga, CA
June 16 - Home

The next few posts will include photos from each segment of our trip.
Enjoy!
